The Coming Blowback
Predictably, the blowback from the ad hoc execution of Saddam Hussein is beginning to rear its head. Though there are no reports of an uptick in violence yet, many Sunni's are none the less upset at what they see as little more than a revenge killing by the Shiite controlled government. The "unofficial" video captured on cellphone cameras that mysteriously were able to make it past what was undoubtedly a tightly controlled security setting have turned the event into a spectacle which could elevate Saddam's image to that of martyr.
But at least Bush got his man. Too bad it will be the troops, and the Iraqi's, who suffer the brunt of the coming blowback.
